Review: LifeGear 41-3652 Flashlight/Glowstick
![]() Contains some sponsored or promotional links This water-resistant flashlight is long, narrow and very lightweight. It comes in multiple colors, including green, red and blue. The LED flashlight produces moderately bright white light that travels a considerable distance. It has a rounded shape, but its design usually stops it from rolling across surfaces. The glowstick portion colorfully illuminates the body of the flashlight. Depending on the setting, it can flash, stay on continously or remain dark. The LifeGear 41-3652's extra features include a wrist strap and whistle. Its whistle is revealed by pulling a plastic cover off the end of the flashlight. An advantage of this model is that you can easily just turn the white LED flashlight on or off by pushing the button once. You won't have to cycle through other modes when you don't want them. To activate the glowstick, rapidly press the button twice. Push it again to cycle through steady and flashing options. You can buy Life Gear flashlights on the Dorcy International website, at CVS pharmacies or on Mercari, an internet marketplace with both used and new merchandise. For a special offer that takes $10.00 off your purchase, use this link to join Mercari (sponsored). This LifeGear flashlight comes ready-to-use with batteries included. To conserve power, it automatically turns off after a half-hour. It uses three LR44 button batteries; this reduces the total weight but makes it more difficult and costly to replace them. When it's time for new batteries, you'll have to remove a single Phillips-head screw. Use a Phillips #0 screwdriver, such as Craftsman model 41542. You can order a Craftsman screwdriver of this type on Mercari. It's possible but somewhat difficult to access and remove the batteries. The LifeGear instruction sheet isn't very helpful. Basically, I'd recommend this inexpensive LED flashlight for occasional use, not as a tool that you plan to use every day. You might keep it in an emergency kit (just be sure to test it from time to time) or buy one when you take a long trip and forget to pack a flashlight. It's also a good choice if you're worried about breaking or losing a more expensive unit during certain activities. Updated January 2025 - (C) 2025 |
